The Bay Area Free Book Exchange was created and is run cooperatively by local book sellers/ booklovers.
As independent book sellers we process thousands of books every month. Thus, we continually stock the shelves of the Bay Area Free Book Exchange. All the books on
all the shelves are available to the public free of charge. It is like an ever changing
treasure hunt among thousands of books.
In order to keep the Bay Area Free Book Exchange going and the shelves stocked, we encourage you to donate books that you no longer need. We keep the ones that we think we can sell on e-bay in order to help pay the PG&E, rent and other expenses. We then put the rest or most of the donations on the shelves. While donations are appreciated, they are not required. Keep in mind that you are always welcome to stop by on weekends to browse our shelves. To repeat, All books on All shelves are FREE!!; but we do have a limit of 50 books per person per day.
As of March 7, 2010, we have given away 40,196 free books! With your help and support it is our goal to expand our inventory and keep the shelves stocked with thousands of free books for the entire community. Our goal is to give away 100,000 books sometime in 2010.
Thanks for your support!
*All books given away will be stamped with our ‘free book" stamp before you leave.
