We currently have approximately 10,000 free books in our store, and have given away 333,059 books since May 2009. All books on all of the shelves are free for the taking.
If you are interested in donating books, you are welcome to drop off during our business hours, Saturday & Sunday 9am-6pm, or you can drop off after hours (weekdays, 24hrs) through our door slot.
If you have a large amount of books, you can bring them during our business hours. Otherwise, please use the contact us form to make special arrangements.

In order to keep the Bay Area Free Book Exchange going and the shelves stocked, we encourage you to donate books that you no longer need. We keep the ones that we think we can sell on e-bay in order to help pay the PG&E, rent and other expenses. (Thus, we are actually a for profit store and can not give a tax deductible donation receipt.) We then put the rest or most of the donations on the shelves. While donations are appreciated, they are not required. Keep in mind that you are always welcome to stop by on weekends to browse our shelves

We are off the Central Avenue Exit on Interstate 80. Then, take Central Avenue heading East until you come to San Pablo Avenue then turn left and go a few blocks until you come to 10520 San Pablo Ave. So, grab free books and please bring any books that you no longer need. We also have a drop off slot in our door for donations during our off hours.
